in case anyone was wondering how the AVR is programmed, this is the cable
I use. I don't know who first designed this cable, there are many different
variations of it.
This cable is compatable with PonyProg and Imagecraft ICC-AVR ISP features (select parrallel type cable in the options).
The ATMEGA128 uses RX0 and TX1 as MISO & MOSI not the
actual MOSI and MISO pins on PORT B!
